ActiveGrid Inc.
released 1.0 versions of the ActiveGrid Application Builder and
LAMP Application Server, which add enterprise features to the proven
LAMP (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP/Python/Perl) software infrastructure
stack. ActiveGrid's Enterprise LAMP helps enterprises rapidly create
Web 2.0 applications with rich user interfaces that weave together
existing enterprise systems into new services and applications.
Anne Thomas Manes, vice president and research director at Burton
Group, observed that, "LAMP is becoming increasingly popular in the
enterprise, and there is a clear need for an industrial strength,
easy-to-use infrastructure to support next-generation applications."
Peter Yared, CEO of ActiveGrid and former CTO of the Sun Application
Server Division, added, "With the addition of enterprise-grade features,
LAMP is now a serious contender to costly and complex J2EE and .NET
initiatives. The technology innovation and collaboration we're
experiencing in the open source community is unprecedented --
Enterprise LAMP can't be beat for its capabilities, openness and
economics."
ActiveGrid Delivers Enterprise LAMP
The acronym "LAMP" originated in 1998, and has been quietly gaining momentum as it has become more widely used by leading
Internet sites such as Google, Sabre and Amazon. ActiveGrid productizes the LAMP stack, delivering enterprise-grade features
on a "scale out" LAMP architecture, with two products, ActiveGrid Application Builder 1.0 and ActiveGrid LAMP Application
Server 1.0:
ActiveGrid is partnering with the key principals of the LAMP stack, including Linux distributors Novell and Red Hat, Apache
committer Covalent, MySQL AB, developer of the world's most popular open source database, and PHP authors Zend.
